This week I will resume progress monitorring the students in the RTI program. I will also meet with my first and second grade reading groups. The first graders will be reading about lambs and bears. We will do a picture walk and discuss the sequence of events in the story. Then the children will write about their favorite character in the story. In second grade we will follow the same procedure in reading stories about a tractor and a car. We will also make words with our letter pals.
Center Cass School District # 66 is in the process of implementing an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) mandate, Response of Intervention (RTI). RTI is an array of procedures that can be used to determine if and how students respond to specific changes in instruction. RTI provides an improved process and instruction for school teams in designing, implementing, and educational interventions.
I am so happy to part of the Elizabeth Ide family. I have been here for the past ten years. I have lived in Naperville for the past 30 years. I am married and have three children. Two of my sons are married. One lives in Madison and the other in Chicago. My daughter, Miss Pellin teaches third grade at Prairieview. I am a huge Cub's fan! I will be teaching reading intervention to kindergarten, first and second graders this year. I am looking forward to meeting and reading with many students!
