April 20th to April 24th

This week the first graders will read a book about Ben whose Dad comes home from the navy with a surprise visit to his school! The children will write about Ben's explanation of his father's duties on the ship.

This week the second graders will read about penguins! They will learn that the mother penguin goes out to sea to look for food while father penguin keeps their eggs warm! The students will write summaries identifying events, characters, and settings for the beginning, middle, and end of the story.

Both of the reading groups will be reading and writing about Earth Day this week. We will discuss many ways to help save our planet. The students can write about the things that they do at home for Earth Day!

Center Cass School District # 66 is in the process of implementing an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) mandate, Response of Intervention (RTI). RTI is an array of procedures that can be used to determine if and how students respond to specific changes in instruction. RTI provides an improved process and instruction for school teams in designing, implementing, and educational interventions.
