Mrs. Pellin's Post
October 20th to October 24th

Last week a great deal of my time was devoted to progress monitoring many students. Therefore, this week my first grade students will continue to focus on the consonants "G" and "R". We will be reading about a tiger and the sounds that he makes by working on the sounds that "G" and "R" make. We will begin by working on the letter sounds separately and then working on blending the letters to make the sound that a tiger makes ("GRRR").

The second grade students will continue to work on guided reading and write summaries in their journals about the stories we are reading. We will also begin to play spelling games from their weekly spelling lists.

Center Cass School District # 66 is in the process of implementing an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) mandate, Response of Intervention (RTI). RTI is an array of procedures that can be used to determine if and how students respond to specific changes in instruction. RTI provides an improved process and instruction for school teams in designing, implementing, and educational interventions.
